The Shinkickers were founded in 1991 in Perth, Western Australia where they have played their unique mix of classic blues, rock and celtic for a mammoth 21 years.
Shinkickers guitarist and co-founder Gerry Quigley is returning home to Ireland at the end of 2012 to promote his new instrumental album so on Saturday August 26th the band will play their last gig with the current lineup.
August 26th 2012 also marks the day which the band says thank-you and farewell to their Co-Manager/Roadie/Promotions Manager of the last 6 years as they begin an exciting new era!
Gerry is already busy organising venues and promotions for a series of his own farewell gigs with The Shinkickers including some original band members. Gerry's farewell gigs are scheduled for December 7th, 8th and 11th of December 2012 at some special venues in the Perth Hills and Metro areas.
At around midnight on December 11th, 2012 the band members will each pack up their gear and roll up their leads for the last time in 2012, but this time they will be wishing Gerry and each other all the best for 2013 as Gerry begins his new adventure.
After some 30 years in the Perth music scene, where he launched many successful bands including The Blarney Stones, Raggle Taggle Gypsy, and many more, the man who - along with his band Raggle Taggle Gypsy - once received a standing ovation at the Perth Concert Hall, The Shinkickers founder, writer and guitarist Gerry Quigley will fulfill a new dream and head home to Ireland with his partner Sharon at the end of 2012.
The cosmopolitan city of Dublin is Gerry's home town and Ireland is the magical place where he will launch his newest band, Gerry Quigley & The Nomadic Druids in 2013. Gerry Quigley & The Nomadic Druids also includes original Shinkicker Leroy Cleaver on Drums & Percussion, Jon Pitulej on Keyboards and Jon McNair on Base Guitar, and 2013 could also bring some surprises for The Shinkickers.
Gerry is playing his last farewell Australia gig with The Shinkickers on Tuesday 11th December at the Perth Blues Club, Charles Hotel North Perth. The night will also feature Gerry Quigley & The Nomadic Druids with their debut performance and CD launch of their album titled Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow. (soon to be available on iTunes) Australian/Celtic folk band The Gang of Three will also be special guests on the night.
The Shinkickers members for Gerry's farewell gigs in December will include:
- Gerry Quigley: Guitar, slide guitar, mandola, bazouki, mandolin
- Terry Pugh: Hammond organ, piano, keyboard, accordion, vocals
- Pete Romano: Vocals, guitar, harmonica
- Geoff Bushby: Vocals
- Greg Thomson: Base guitar, vocals

There could be special guest appearances on the night by past band members, anything is possible! For more information including details of Gerry's farewell gigs with The Shinkickers see his gig guide and more at www.gerryquigleymusic.com
Gerry plans a return to Perth as often as he can for more gigs with both The Shinkickers and The Nomadic Druids, and you can be sure that each time the gigs will be bigger and better than ever!
Here's to the next 21 years!
... lets "Rock On" and "Enjoy the Music!"
